The Baoligaomiao Formation is widely distributed from the East Wuqi to Zhanlantun area in the Xing'an Mongolian orogenic belt (Tian Shugang et al., 2016; Wei et al., 2017). This formation contains abundant Angara biological fossils which exhibit diachronism characteristics and are mostly incomplete. Therefore, those Angara fossils reported are unable to limit the exact sedimentary age of the Baoligaomiao Formation. In this study, we report typical and complete Angara fossils in the Huochetou village of the Zhalantun city, which can denote specific times, e.g. Angaropteridium cardiopteroides (Schmalh.) and Angaridium submongolicum Neuburg. Combined with new detrital zircon ages of siltstone of the Baoligaomiao Formation, we aim to define the precise age of the Baoligaomiao Formation and provide new and complete materials to study Carboniferous Angara fossils. |
