Microexpression is a fast and uncontrollable facial movement revealing an emotion that a person tries to conceal. It could be applied to security, forensic investigations, and clinical fields as an effective clue for detecting deceptions. In this paper, we summarize the latest studies on microexpression recognition, including psychological studies, automated microexpression recognition studies, and the requirements for developing a microexpression database. Then we discuss the current progress on microexpression generation research. In addition, the future trends in this field are discussed. |
