A Review of Recent Advances on Coral Carbonate Clumped Isotope Signatures

文摘 基于碳酸根离子内部重同位素(~(13)C和~(18)O)之间相互团簇成键的程度与温度的关系,珊瑚碳酸盐团簇同位素(以Δ_(47)值量化)可以用来指示海水温度。然而受“生命效应”影响,多种浅水、深水珊瑚Δ_(47)值与海温的关系显著偏离无机合成碳酸盐的 Δ_(47)-t校正曲线。解析珊瑚生命效应对Δ_(47)值的影响机制是有效应用团簇同位素重建海温的重要前提。本文介绍了团簇同位素体系、珊瑚Δ_(47)值的特征,综述了近期珊瑚碳酸盐同位素研究重要进展,从pH效应、CO_2扩散、水合/羟基化,生物控制的方面对生命效应的分馏机制进行剖析。已有结果表明,尽管珊瑚Δ_(47)值受生命效应影响,但依然具有显著的温度效应。未来研究需要在珊瑚钙化机制的视角下深入理解同位素分馏的各种影响因素。
其他语种文摘 Based on the temperature dependence of heavy isotopes (~(13)C and ~(18)O) clumping to each other within the carbonate ion groups,coral carbonate clumped isotope compositions (quantified by Δ_(47) value) can be used as a vector of seawater temperature.Due to“vital effect”,the relationships between Δ_(47) values of corals and temperatures of shallow or deep sea can significantly deviate from the calibration line established from inorganic carbonate precipitations.Deciphering the impact of the vital effect on Δ_(47) is extremely important for paleo-temperature studies based on clumped isotopes.This review provides an overview of current progress of researches on clumped isotopes of coral carbonate,specifically introducing basic knowledge of clumped isotope system and Δ_(47) signatures of coral carbonate.We discuss the mechanism of the Δ_(47) vital effect from perspectives including pH effect,CO_2 diffusion,hydration/hydroxylation,and biological controls.Although Δ_(47) value of coral carbonates has been affected by the vital effect,it still can be used to represent seawater temperature.Future works are suggested to focus on controlling factors of isotope fractionation factors during coral calcification.
