斯宾塞《教育论》在中国的传播与影响

斯宾塞的《教育论》(1861年)一书由其在杂志发表过的4篇文章组成,曾是世界上流传最广的教育论著之一,在推动19世纪欧美的科学教育中发挥过重要作用。晚清时颜永京翻译了其中的第一篇文章,民国时期任鸿隽又翻译了第一篇和第二篇,到1962年胡毅才翻译了整本书。严复曾大力宣扬斯宾塞的教育思想,并提出了“三育并举”的主张。本文考察《教育论》一书中文翻译的缘起与传播过程,讨论其与斯宾塞将教育划分为德智体三方面的分类框架在近代中国建立科学教育和科学文化的历史过程中发挥的作用。 |

Herbert Spencer's Education(1861) was one of the most widely read treatises on education in the world,and pushed forward the development of science education in England,Europe and America. Yen Yung Kiung translated the first chapter of the book in the late Qing Dynasty. After the founding of the Republic of China,Zen Hung-chun translated the first and second chapters. In 1962 Hu Yi translated the whole book. Yen Fu propagated Spencer's ideas and proposed the concept of“San Yu Bing Ju[All-round Education]”. In this paper we examine the function,influence and meaning of the Chinese translations of Spencer's Education,and his classification framework of education in the process of the establishment of science education and science culture in China. |
