In this work, the optical spectrum, electron paramagnetic resonance g-factors and zero-field splitting D-value of α-Al_2O_3:V~(3+) are interpreted simultaneously based on the comlete diagonalization procedure and a crystal-field-like model. The theoretical values are in good agreement with experimental findings. In addition, the deduced displacement of 0.008 6 nm of V~(3+) site is comparable to the value of 0.006 nm of Cr~(3+) site in the concentrated ruby. |
